Love him or hate him, nobody can doubt that Ashley Cole is one of the best left-backs that England has ever produced.

During his time with Arsenal and Chelsea, the 37-year-old won three Premier League titles, one Champions League, one Europa League and seven FA Cups.

Cole also earned 107 caps for the Three Lions between 2001 and 2014, making him the sixth most-capped England international in history and the most capped full-back.

For the last few years, Cole has been plying his trade abroad, leaving Stamford Bridge in 2014 for an 18-month stint at Roma which yielded just 16 first-team appearances.

The Londoner has had more luck over the Atlantic, signing for Los Angeles Galaxy in January 2016 and making 94 appearances.

Cole was also given the captain’s armband ahead of the start of the 2018 season and voted 2018 LA Riot Squad Player of the Year by the club’s fans in October.

With Cole’s contract up on 31 December, he will have to consider his next move – could retirement be on the cards, or will he seek out one last challenge?

A number of West Ham fans, many of whom would like to see the team’s left-back position strengthened, have taken to Twitter to throw their club’s name in the hat:
