The statistics don’t exactly back up the narrative that Ousmane Dembele is wasting his considerable talents at Barcelona.
No player in La Liga has won his team more points (seven) than Dembele this season with his fifth goal of the season rescuing a last-gasp draw away at title rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday. The French winger inspired a dramatic turnaround at Rayo Vallecano just a few weeks earlier.
Nonetheless, this has not stopped the constant speculation about his future, just over a year after the 21-year-old moved to the Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund for an initial £96 million, according to the BBC.
Dembele has been heavily linked with Liverpool of late, with The Sun reporting that the Reds could make an £85million offer for the winger.
And, interestingly, Goal believes that the former Rennes youngster has asked to leave the Catalan giants in the January transfer window with the forward having been criticised heavily in the Spanish media of late due to a perceived lack of professionalism.
Liverpool have splashed out a world record fee for both a centre-back and a goalkeeper since January of this year and it would surely take another mammoth fee to land Dembele if Barcelona are willing to listen to offers.
