The young Rangers goalkeeper made a swift return to Ibrox on Monday.

The loaned-out Rangers goalkeeper Nicky Hogarth was back in Gers colours on Monday, just three days after leaving Ibrox.

Rangers announced on Friday that Hogarth had joined East Stirlingshire on a temporary deal running until the end of the season.

The following day, the 17-year-old was named in the Falkirk side’s squad to face Spartans, but remained an unused substitute.

And he suffered the same fate on Monday, being asked to back up Aidan McAdams in Rangers Under-20s’ 6-1 win against Partick Thistle.

There is no suggestion, however, that the Gers have – or indeed plan to – cut short the shot-stopper’s loan spell, which should provide him with vital experience of life within a first team environment – even if he fails to receive the game time to go with it.

And another Ibrox exile, Liam Burt, played and scored twice in the match, despite having signed a temporary deal with Alloa in the summer.

Hogarth signed a new two-year contract at Rangers earlier this year, allowing him a bit of breathing space in which to experience regular first team football for the very first time.

He is currently one of several highly-rated young goalkeepers on Rangers’ books, along with Robby McCrorie (pictured), McAdams and Kieran Wright – each of whom sit above him in the Ibrox pecking order.
