The young Rangers goalkeeper has yet to make his debut for the Ibrox side, with at least three ahead of him in Steven Gerrard’s plans.

The Rangers goalkeeper Aidan McAdams is looking to leave Ibrox on loan in the near future.

McAdams spent a decade in Celtic’s youth ranks before his move across Glasgow, to Rangers, last summer.

But the 19-year-old has yet to taste first team football at Ibrox and with Allan McGregor, Wes Foderingham and Robby McCrorie (not to mention the loaned-out Jak Alnwick) all currently ahead of him, his immediate future could lie elsewhere.

Speaking to the Evening Times this week, McAdams admitted to holding talks with Rangers staff regarding a potential loan move.

“I settled in really well last season and I understand how Rangers as a club operate and play and it is a very stylish and attractive style of playing,” he said.

“But I need to get first team games before I can do much in the game and I have spoken to [academy head] Craig Mulholland and Billy Kirkwood, who is now the loan manager for the development squad.

“And I have spoken to my two goalie coaches, Colin [Stewart] and Graeme Smith and we think the next thing for me is to go out and get that experience of playing against men week in week out. I am looking forward to that.

“Rangers are a huge club and that comes with its perks. Hopefully because I am at a big club, and with Rangers’ reputation, clubs will look at me and think that I can go and perform for them.

“Hopefully I can get that loan move and I will do my best wherever I am. If I make any mistakes, I will learn from them and I am sure I will enjoy the experience in a first team environment.

“That will allow me to hopefully go back to Rangers and implement what I have learned and get myself into the first team squad here.”

McAdams, who has been capped by Scotland at up to and including under-19 level, still has 18 months left on his Rangers contract.
