The reported Celtic target joined Aston Villa instead.

John McGinn’s decision to join Aston Villa in August left some Celtic fans downhearted.
But Ryan Christie’s performance for Scotland on Tuesday night has ensured that several of those are now finally over it.
Christie was making only his fifth appearance for the Tartan Army against Israel, with McGinn one of the many who withdrew from Alex McLeish’s squad.
But the 23-year-old has won plenty of plaudits following the 3-2 win at Hampden Park, in which he set up the second of Celtic teammate James Forrest’s hat-trick of goals.
It follows a run of three goals and as many assists in his last five Bhoys outings.

And the following Celtic supporters believe that Christie’s recent revival is proof they didn’t even need the Aston Villa midfielder.
Don’t want to jump the gun but I’m starting to wonder if there is anything John McGinn can do that Ryan Christie can’t.~ Peter Lawwell liked ~
McGinn, who is the grandson of former Celtic chairman Jack McGinn and grew up a Bhoys fan, has settled in well at Aston Villa, scoring two goals and assisting four from 15 Championship appearances.
Has Christie made up for Celtic’s failure to sign Aston Villa’s McGinn?
