Rangers forward Joe Dodoo made positive progress this weekend out on loan - but he may still be disappointed.

Dodoo was called up to make his first league start for two months for loan side Blackpool.

The Rangers owned attacker had certainly earned it, after scoring three goals in two games leading up to the weekend match.

These came in cup competitions, with Dodoo scoring in the FA Cup against Exeter and then a brace in the Checkatrade Trophy in midweek.

This weekend Dodoo was picked for Blackpool's bread and butter, recalled for the league fixture after several weeks on the bench - and at times not even in the squad at all.

So what happened?

Dodoo was selected as one of two forwards in Blackpool's game with Southend.

Blackpool won the game 2-1, but Dodoo did not get on the scoresheet.

He was substituted after 70 minutes, and his strike partner ended up going on to score the winner while he was on the bench.

The Rangers loanee has had a positive week, and has done well just to have got back into Blackpool's starting line up.

He may just be slightly disappointed that he did not do more with the opportunity.
