Jamal Blackman suffered a broken leg in Leeds Under-23's 3-0 loss to Birmingham City last Friday and the goalkeeper has returned to parent club Chelsea for rehabilitation - and fans fancy Southampton's Fraser Forster as his replacement.

Blackman, 25, managed just two Carabao Cup appearances for Leeds, as Marcelo Bielsa continues to stick with Thorp Arch academy product Bailey Peacock-Farrell between the sticks.

Instead, the Chelsea loanee was used mainly by Under-23 manager Carlos Corberan. He collided with Beryly Lubala in the final minutes of the defeat to Birmingham with midfielder Hugo Diaz replacing him in goal - Leeds had used all three substitutes.

Now, Blackman has returned to Chelsea and the void left by the ex-Sheffield United stopper means Peacock-Farrell remains the club's undisputed number one. Kamil Miazek and Will Huffer will be fighting for Blackman's spot on the bench.

But Leeds fans want a replacement in January, with Peacock-Farrell's form of late considered questionable at best. Whited fans discussed who should be the club's number one target when January 1 strikes.

Some Leeds supporters reckon Southampton's out-of-favour England international Forster would be a top addition, despite becoming third choice under Mark Hughes with Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy preferred.

Forster has not played for the Saints since December 2017 and the 30-year-old would be many fans' choice to replace Blackman, despite Spotrac claiming he earns a whopping £70,000 a week on the south coast.
