According to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United recruitment chief Victor Orta smashed his phone during the transfer window, after his side missed out on Harvey Barnes.

Leeds had made Barnes one of their top targets in the summer, and almost had a deal over the line, at the moment West Bromwich Albion swooped in.

Barnes decided that a move to West Brom would be favourable over the Elland Road switch, and he turned Leeds down.

The England youth international’s decision reportedly left Orta furious, and he threw his mobile against the wall in temper.

There may still be some lingering anger from Orta that he didn’t get the deal over the line too, as Barnes could have been a wonderful addition for Leeds.

The youngster has been one of the best signings of the summer in the Championship, and is already playing a key role at West Brom.

Barnes helped the Baggies to a 4-1 win over Leeds, with his skill showing Marcelo Bielsa exactly what he missed out on.

And if Leeds could have signed Barnes then their push for promotion would surely have been strengthened.
