According to the Chronicle, Freddie Woodman is ‘desperate’ for a move away from Newcastle United in January.

Woodman has failed to make a first-team appearance at Newcastle all season, and the young stopper is now keen to get regular football.

Woodman appears to have too many goalkeepers ahead of him at St. James’ Park, and is now pushing for a move with a number of Football League sides interested.

However, Rob Elliot could also depart Newcastle in the new year, and Rafael Benitez only wants to let one of the stoppers leave.

Elliot has seen himself demoted to third choice goalkeeper at Newcastle, and has barely featured recently.

Newcastle have Martin Dubravka monopolising their spot between the sticks, while Karl Darlow looks like first reserve.

Benitez is now expected to sanction the departure of one of his goalkeepers in two months’ time, but he is yet to decide upon who will be allowed to leave Newcastle.
