There are more and more English youngsters getting their chance in the top leagues across Europe with Jadon Sancho undoubtedly leading the charge after a remarkable start to the season with Borussia Dortmund.
Mauricio Pochettino has arguably turned Spurs into one of the trend-setters by initially building his team around a large group of seriously exciting youngsters that boasted an enormous amount of potential.
And while Tottenham's success has forced Pochettino to also look at signing more established players, the pathway for the youngsters is undoubtedly still there and there is plenty of excitement about a cluster of starlets looking to catch the manager's eye.
And when asked which youngster at Spurs is particularly worth watching out for, Sissoko picked out Winks and went on to make a very flattering comparison between the 22-year-old and one of the Premier League's greatest ever players.
"At our place, there is little Harry Winks," he told Foot Mercato. "He is a very good player who reminds me of Steven Gerrard. I think he has the same profile. He is evolving. From day to day, we see him evolve, progress. He is confident. He is even in England A team so it proves that he is a quality player. He is the young player of the club that will explode in the years to come."
Winks is really impressing this season at a time when Pochettino is having to consider potential replacements for Mousa Dembele. He looks incredibly comfortable getting on the ball and adopting something of a quarterback-type role when he drops deep.
His potential is no longer a secret. He has made too many first-team appearances for it to be. But it would be fair to assume that we have only had a glimpse of what Winks could be capable of in the future - especially as Sissoko is seeing similarities with Gerrard.
