Tottenham Hotspur are due to face Chelsea when they return to action after the international break.
Some Arsenal fans have called for Cesc Fabregas to be banned, which would lead to him missing Chelsea’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea are due to take on Tottenham after the international break, and a few Arsenal fans seemingly want Maurizio Sarri’s side to be without Fabregas for the contest.
Fabregas was spotted moving the vanishing spray before taking a last minute free-kick for Chelsea yesterday, to gain a few yards.
And fans from Arsenal, and other clubs, feel that the Spaniard should be suspended.
Referee sprays grass. Fabregas PICKS UP SPRAY and places it further forward to gain a yard at a free kick. Have you ever seen a more petty form of cheating? Desperate, cynical club. @ChelseaFC @premierleague @SkySports pic.twitter.com/AV9nQyl0yT— North Bank Nadim (@NorthBankNadim) November 11, 2018
Should be punished for this surely?— Ivor Cannon (@ivorcannon) November 11, 2018
Thing is he won’t get punished but Charlie Austin will, Premier League at its finest— Sunny (@SunnyScott10) November 12, 2018
Blatant cheating which should be dealt with by @premierleague— Andy (@ajb1207) November 12, 2018
If this was one of the so called lesser clubs done it, the player would get charged.— Paul Stevenson (@stevop1909) November 12, 2018
I’ve seen some where the players wipe the spray but not move the ball, they generally wipe the spray as it’s distracting apparently. This wasn’t wiping it, he moved the spray forwards, thus deceiving a match official @premierleague— matt reilly (@mattyrei83) November 12, 2018
Fabregas has not been a Chelsea starter very regularly this season, so even if he was banned it wouldn’t necessarily be a massive boost for Tottenham.
The Spanish international appears to be fifth or sixth choice for Sarri in midfield.
Tottenham’s upcoming match with Chelsea will be vital to both side’s seasons.
The pair are both battling for a place in the top four, and whoever wins will take a big step towards protecting their place in the Champions League qualification spots.
