Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has been linked with a move to Nice, the Ligue 1 club managed by Patrick Vieira.
Simon Mignolet has not had the best of times at Liverpool this season.
The goalkeeper found himself sharing duties with Loris Karius throughout the 2017-18 campaign, but both stoppers were often criticised by Liverpool fans.
Karius has since been shipped out on loan to Besiktas, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp forked out a world-record fee to bring in Alisson Becker from Roma in the summer.
With Alisson making the Liverpool goalkeeping berth his own, Mignolet has made just one appearance this term – in the 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the EFL Cup.
And according to Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg, an escape route for the 30-year-old could materialise in the shape of Ligue 1 club Nice. Patrick Vieira, the Aiglons manager, is reportedly unhappy with the form of Yoan Cardinale and Walter Benitez, his current first-team stoppers.
As a result, the Arsenal and France legend is said to have drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements – and Mignolet is believed to be top of the pile for a potential January move.
Whether Klopp decides to sanction the move remains to be seen, as teenager Caoimhin Kelleher would likely have to deputise in the Liverpool goal in the event that Alisson was sidelined.
