A number of Sheffield Wednesday fans have praised goalkeeper Cameron Dawson for his impressive display in the Steel City derby Friday evening.
The 23-year-old found himself under criticism by some Owls supporters given his failure to record a clean sheet in the first 16 games of the Championship season.
However, redemption for the boyhood Sheffield Wednesday fan would come against none other than bitter rivals Sheffield United in Friday night's big clash at Bramall Lane.
Dawson heroically saved a 15th-minute penalty, diving to his left to keep out David McGoldrick’s placed effort - much to the delight of the away contingent.
Despite boasting the joint-worst defence in the division this season - having conceded 30 goals - Sheffield Wednesday successfully prevented United from going top of the table.
And following Dawson's efforts in the game - which saw his save tally go up to 64, the highest in the second tier - several fans took to Twitter to praise the stopper for his display:
Defensively heroic. Well done lads especially @CameronDawson77— Andrew Read (@AndyRead666) 9 November 2018
Dawson played well tonight. Didn’t realise he’s faced more shots in him than any other goalie in the championship. Questions have to asked of Manager and Players in front of him.— Andy O'Sullivan (@andyosullivan5) 9 November 2018
Great credit to Cameron Dawson tonight. I have slated him in the past but he was excellent tonight against an ineffective forward line.— Dave Jameson (@jameson4_david) 9 November 2018

Well played Daws, had a solid game today. First clean sheet, let's kick on from here! @CameronDawson77— Rich Hargreaves (@rkhargreaves) 9 November 2018
The result keeps Wednesday in 17th place in the Championship, with 20 points from 17 games.
