The 29-year-old winger has been on the books of Newcastle since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Bournemouth for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Star to be worth £12 million.
The Scotland international - who earns £45,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com - will come up against his former club Bournemouth at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Ritchie told The Shields Gazette: “It was my decision to leave Bournemouth, because Newcastle was the place I wanted to be – and it’s the same now.
“It’s a challenge I have relished taking on and I still am. For all the good times I had at Bournemouth, not for one moment have I regretted the move.”
Ritchie has made 10 appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle so far this season, providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the Scotland international winger made 32 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League, scoring three goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
Newcastle won against Watford in the Premier League last weekend and will fancy their chances of picking up all three points against Bournemouth on Saturday.
