According to The Express, Tottenham wanted to sign Grealish from Villa in the summer transfer window.
The report also claimed that the Premier League club were planning to make a move for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder in the January transfer window.
Grealish, who can also operate as a winger, signed a new long-term contract with Villa in September.
Lampard told The Birmingham Mail: “The fact they were able to keep him when he was so wanted by a Premier League club. It was probably the best move for Jack in terms of his progression.”
Progressing at Aston Villa
Grealish is one of the best young attacking players in the Championship, and it is great for him that he has signed a new contract with Villa.
The 23-year-old is playing regularly for the Villans, and that is going to help him develop and grow as a footballer.
The 23-year-old has scored one goal and provided two assists in 16 Championship appearances for the Villa so far this season, according to WhoScored.
