Wilder made the comments following United’s goalless draw with Wednesday at home in the Steel City Derby on Friday evening.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper was arguably the best player of the Championship match at Bramall Lane.
The young English custodian made a number of saves throughout the 90 minutes, and also denied David McGoldrick from the penalty spot in the 15th minute.

United manager Wilder was impressed with the performance of Dawson and has spoken highly of him.
Wilder told The Star about Dawson: “I thought he was outstanding. He’s taken a bit of stick but we watched the game against Norwich back on the tape and he saved a pen, and made some unbelievable saves. I think they’re lucky to have a very good young goalkeeper on their books.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Bramall Lane on Friday evening, hosts United had 75% of the possession, took 19 shots of which five were on target, and earned 12 corners, according to BBC Sport.
Visitors Wednesday had 25% of the possession, took seven shots of which one was on target, and earned four corners, according to BBC Sport.
United are now second in the Championship table, while Wednesday are currently 17th in the standings.
