Celtic must consider signing Rangers-linked Dominic Solanke

Should Celtic steal a march on Scottish Premiership rivals Glasgow Rangers and sign Ibrox target Dominic Solanke?

Rangers have long been linked with a move for Dominic Solanke, but should Celtic make a move for the big striker?

Celtic still need another marksman in January after the loss of Moussa Dembele left them with Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths, the latter of whom hasn't played in over a month due to injury.

Rangers also need a striker following Umar Sadiq's failure to adapt to life at Ibrox.

But Steven Gerrard already has a towering forward in the form of Kyle Lafferty, so signing the Liverpool man, who earns £25,000 per week at Anfield [Total Sportek], would be doubling up rather than adding a different option.

Edouard and Griffiths aren't all that similar to Solanke and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers should seriously consider getting him in during the January transfer window.

The Scottish Sun reported back in June that the 21-year-old - yet to make a senior appearance for the Reds this season - wanted to join up with Gerrard in Glasgow.

But a move never materialised and it would certainly leave a bad taste with the Gers if Rodgers were to bring him to Parkhead.

This is a player who must be hungry for football, having spent the entire campaign on the sidelines thus far, and chances are he would get more opportunities with the Hoops than with Gerrard's side.
