According to The Sunderland Echo, Sunderland will likely keep hold of Bali Mumba for now and not send him out on loan in the January transfer window.

According to The Sun, Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Mumba, who has played just three minutes in League One so far this season.

City are reportedly wiling to pay as much as £2.5 million for the 17-year-old midfielder in the January transfer window.

However, it seems, according to The Sunderland Echo, that the Black Cats are not going to entertain any bids for the talented and promising teenager.

Sensible stance

A transfer fee of £2.5m is quite a lot for a 17-year-old League One footballer, but Sunderland should look at the future.

Mumba could develop into a superb footballer in the next few years, especially if he continues to progress the way he has been doing recently.

Sunderland are going strong in League One at the moment and should clinch automatic promotion to the Championship at the end of the season.
