According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham United are interested in Samir Nasri, and if they can get a deal over the line for the attacking midfielder then it could be Manuel Pellegrini’s best signing yet.

West Ham have shown signs of promise in recent weeks, but an injection of creativity in their midfield would be a major boost.

Nasri would certainly bring that, and to sign such a quality player on a free transfer would be highly appealing for the Hammers.

Granted, the Frenchman is unlikely to be match sharp for months yet, but at 31 he still has years ahead of him.

Nasri has a great deal of experience in the Premier League, and to get a player of his class on a free transfer would be a great deal.

Nasri could strengthen West Ham’s midfield three, which currently is more solid than spectacular.

And although Pellegrini has already made some impressive signings at West Ham, in value-for-money terms, Nasri could trump the lot of them.
