Jos Luhukay has handed Sheffield Wednesday a pre-derby boost, suggesting - in contrast to what he said a week ago - that Fernando Forestieri and Marco Matias could each play a part against Sheffield United.

Wednesday have lost their last four matches without the attacking pair, who were not expected to return until after November's international break.

The Owls have found goals hard to come by throughout that time, and the prospect of starting one or both players is sure to tempt most managers, although it would require a drastic change of approach from the usually cautious Luhukay and a place on the bench is perhaps the most likely outcome.

Sheffield Wednesday's main concern will be at the other end, however, with not a clean sheet kept all season and 12 goals shipped throughout their post-October break slump.

The Owls' reigning player of the month, Michael Hector, should return after being inexplicably dropped against Norwich, with two of Tom Lees, Daniel Pudil, or Jordan Thorniley beside him after last week's four-at-the-back experiment spectacularly failed.

Luhukay must then decide whether to stick with Matt Penney, the attack-minded wing-back whose performances have dipped of late, or Morgan Fox, the more conservative option with whom Wednesday often struggle to win.

In midfield, Josh Onomah's place is surely at risk, although unlike Hector a week ago, the Owls' Tottenham Hotspur loanee can have few complaints if he is indeed dropped from the side.

Adam Reach could then be deployed in a deeper, more central role, with Steven Fletcher likely to be partnered by one of Lucas Joao, who despite his recent poor form does tend to rise to the bigger occasion and could be deemed an appealingly unpredictable option, or Atdhe Nuhiu, whose early 2018 performances continue to evade him.

This is how HITC Sport suspects Sheffield Wednesday will look against Sheffield United:

Should Forestieri and/or Matias start for Sheffield Wednesday against Sheffield United? Will Hector return? Could Tottenham's Onomah drop to the bench?
