The defender stepped up his bid for full fitness with Sheffield Wednesday's Under-23s on Monday.
Sheffield Wednesday's Joost van Aken looks to be closing in on a return to fitness.
Van Aken last played for the Owls in August, having sat out the final five months of last season with a separate problem.
But the Dutch defender made his second appearance for Sheffield Wednesday's Under-23s on Monday, playing an hour in a 2-1 defeat against Bolton Wanderers.
That update was tweeted out by Wednesday's official Twitter account the following afternoon, although the response from a number of Owls fans was far from positive.
Here is what they are saying...
This is the least inspiring tweet I have ever read.

Probably why they lost, he’s poo

Not good enough for championship football, simples
— Kirk Hunter (@kirk_SWFC) November 6, 2018
That’s because Joost Van Aken played an hour for the Under 23’s
— Rob Harris (@rharris_22) November 6, 2018
The guy is absolute tosh.
— James (@EagleJagOwl) November 6, 2018
He's not up to it, I'm afraid. An utter waste of money.
— David Harpham (@deharpham) November 6, 2018
He’s a proper lightweight, nowhere near good enough for the championship. Don’t rate him at all.

Just when you thought things couldn't get much worse!
— Gavin lancaster (@LancasterGavin) November 6, 2018
He's awful

Every time I think of Joost Van Aken and the fee we supposedly paid for him, it reminds me of why we are in a mess with regards to FFP. Terrible player.

Sheffield Wednesday are reported to have agreed to pay up to £4 million to sign Van Aken from Heerenveen a year ago.
But despite impressing with his technical ability, the defensive side of the 24-year-old's game has often left much to be desired.
And one of his more forgettable days came in last season's Steel City derby at Hillsborough - an occasion one Sheffield United fan has not forgotten...
Fingers crossed he’s ok for Friday. P.s UTB

Nevertheless, there has been some support for Van Aken...
The replies to this are shameful. Support the team FFS. Now more than ever.

I think we have a player somewhere in there. Cuts out the simple errors and bulks up a bit, he could be a real asset. In his first few games he was brilliant.

I know it's hard at the moment but can we just get behind the team instead of getting on their backs & damaging any confidence they have wawaw

Can Van Aken recover from that disappointing start to his Sheffield Wednesday career?
