Dave King is said to be determined to give Rangers the best chance of competing in Europe this season, and he is prepared to put more money in to improve the squad.
Gerrard has made big changes at Rangers since taking charge, but there is a realisation that quality still needs to be added.
Rangers have already held meetings ahead of the January transfer window, with targets being identified early on.
The Express report that Rangers’ top target is a striker, as Gerrard feels he needs more options up-front.
Rangers have been heavily reliant on Alfredo Morelos for goals this season, and Gerrard is eager to relieve some of the goalscoring burden on the Colombian.
Rangers could also look to strengthen elsewhere, after what has been a demanding start to the season for their squad.
Rangers have made good progress in the Europa League under Gerrard, and currently sit in third place in the Scottish Premiership table.
