Four months after his Sheffield Wednesday contract expired, Sean Clare finally started a senior game of football.
Having twice appeared as a substitute for new club Hearts in recent weeks, the midfielder got the nod for Wednesday's Edinburgh derby against Hibernian after another ex-Owl, Steven MacLean, dropped out of the team.
Clare impressed after breaking into the Sheffield Wednesday side at the start of the year, but suffered an injury in March from which he has only recently recovered.
And despite being offered fresh terms at Hillsborough, the 22-year-old opted instead to explore his options on the free agent market.
Clare claimed to have Premier League clubs chasing his signature, but it was in Scotland, with Hearts, that he eventually rocked up in mid-September.
But what do Hearts fans make of their latest recruit, amid all the hype?
Here is what is being said on Twitter
Sean Clare is honestly dreadful.— Ted ™️ (@irvine213) October 31, 2018
If anyone hears Sean Clare requiring a lift back to Sheffield give me a shout and I'll take him free of charge #Garbage— Gaz (@GazzaMcK89) October 31, 2018
Got to agree mate absolute headless chicken!— ZANDER (@Z_innes) November 1, 2018
In terms of the actual football tonight, I have to say that Clare looks to be struggling to get up to speed. It was evident that the pace of the Aberdeen game was too much and the same can be said for tonight.— Hearts Rant (@HeartsRant) October 31, 2018
Looks rather timid and weak— Darren (@darrenconnell26) October 31, 2018
He was quite simply pish— Scott Baxter (@neva4get19512) October 31, 2018
Hearts poor tonight. Lacking players and clearly tired from two weeks full of football. Djoum did nothing and Clare looks weak. #hmfc— Craig Cuthbertson (@craigcuth) October 31, 2018
I was hoping for more impact. From someone who is apparently Prem calibre i thought he’d take the game by the balls.— HMFC DESIGN - Natural Order (@HMFCDesign) October 31, 2018
Not bad but looking forward to him moulding into the team

Clare's side were held to a 0-0 draw by Hibernian, who played the final half an hour a man light and had manager Neil Lennon struck by a coin.
Should Clare have stuck with Sheffield Wednesday?
