For the second time in a matter of weeks, West Ham United have been linked with a Roma forward.
Calciomercato reported a fortnight ago that the Hammers were ready to pay £22 million to sign the prolific Edin Dzeko, who is allegedly keen to return to the Premier League in the autumn of his career.
The report even claimed that West Ham were willing to offer Dzeko, who has recently obtained a degree in sports management, a director’s role at the London Stadium once he retires.
But the former Manchester City favourite is not the only Stadio Olimpico star on West Ham’s radar. Tuttomercatoweb have reported that Manuel Pellegrini’s side have attempted to start negotiations over a potential January deal for Stephan El Shaarawy.
Now 26, El Shaarawy might not have developed into the world-class footballer many expected him to become after bursting on to the stage at AC Milan, but he has got his career back on track after a dreadful spell at Monaco.
He has scored 27 goals in his last three seasons for Roma and hit the target in the 1-1 draw against Napoli at the weekend.
Unfortunately for West Ham, however, the Giallorossi are determined to keep hold of the 23-time Italy international and are one step away from tying him down to a new contract until 2022, Tuttomercatoweb adds.
