Bruce was sacked by Aston Villa at the start of this month, but could make an immediate return to football with Reading.

Reading fans are reacting to reports linking their side with a move for the former Aston Villa manager, Steve Bruce.
The Sun claims Bruce is currently 'awaiting Reading's call' on holiday after leaving Aston Villa at the start of this month.
Reading are currently 22nd in the Championship, two points adrift of Rotherham United in safety.
And the pressure is unsurprisingly mounting on Paul Clement, the Royals manager who has won just six of his 25 games in charge of his hometown team.
But would the Reading supporters welcome Bruce to the Madejski Stadium?
Here is what they are saying about the former Aston Villa, Hull City and Sunderland boss on Twitter...
Proven championship manager. It's a no-brainer (if we can get him)

We bemoan Clements lack of experience, Bruce certainly has it in abundance

At this moment of time I think he’s exactly what we need

I don’t think there are many better options out there. If Steve Bruce can’t improve us then I’m afraid I don’t know who can. We are in a desperate state and on a rapid decline to League 1 unless things change, with Clement and Gourley to go first.

Yes please!!! Barring Villa he’s got teams promoted and came close with Villa last season. Of course promotion is the last thing on anybody’s mind but if he can get us to safety and then start a fresh next season. Perfect choice for me

Him or Mick MCarthy would be good

Bruce. Definitely a good move. Guaranteed improvement, decent football style. Unlikely to get poached - knows good players and won't sign crap

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!

Would have him over Clement in a heartbeat, Villa didn't work out but before that has a decent track record at this level.

No brainer - I really don’t get the clamour for Parky on HNA

Not everyone is on board, however...
Bruce had the best squad in the championship with massive amounts of investment lavished on it and couldn't get them playing. Will he be able to motivate our lot and manage with a comparative meagre budget? Could really do with a working crystal ball right now.

Steve Bruce likes spending money and I am not sure we have any? First to go should be Ron Gourley. What has he done? I think the McCarthy/Murty suggestion is worthy of support. Can organise/RFC blood......
— Steve Benton (@footysteve) October 28, 2018
Bad idea. Failed with all of Villa's strong squad and resources.
— Robert Stephens (@robjs54) October 28, 2018
Would rather stick with Clement or look down the leagues for a promising manager.
Not a great choice out there manager wise,id go for Chris Coleman
— Ralf Minge & The Dead Legs (@RalfDead) October 28, 2018
I'd be amazed if we could afford his wages.

Bruce twice took Hull, along with Aston Villa's neighbours Birmingham City, from the Championship to the Premier League.
But despite being tasked with one of the biggest budgets in second tier history, the 57-year-old failed to repeat the feat at Villa Park.

The Villans finished fourth in Bruce's only full season at the helm, but lost the play-off final against Fulham at Wembley.
Would the former Aston Villa boss be a good appointment for Reading?
