Claudio Yacob was certainly up against it in attempting to secure a starting berth at Nottingham Forest.
Aitor Karanka has a massive amount of central midfield options at his disposal and, as a result, the recent free-agent signing has not had a look-in. Former West Brom star Yacob has not been included in a single match-day squad since arriving at Forest in early September.
Now some fans have taken to Twitter to argue that Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with Burton Albion is the perfect time to give Yacob his long-awaited debut; especially with regular starter Jack Colback set to miss the weekend’s fixture against table-topping Sheffield United through suspension.

Would like to see Soudani play behind Murphy tonight, with Yates or Yacob given a run out in CM. That means Waston and Dias will play #NFFC— Tom Wheeldon (@Tommy_Basford) October 30, 2018
Start Yacob, please— Corey (@CoreyStapsey) October 30, 2018
Yeh same mate him or Yacob would be good to see— (@ftblAidxn_) October 29, 2018
if bridcutt isn't starting with colback suspended tonight then i will be very peeved with aitor. ideally want to see him paired with yacob, and yates on the bench too! let's really give some of the squad a run out. bridcutt deserves his chance!#nffc— ross 128 b (@coffndrop) October 30, 2018
Didn't put Colback in, only reason is I want Yacob to have a chance— Jack Smylie (@Inthetop1_nffc) October 28, 2018
With Colback (who was simply outstanding today) suspended for Sheffield united game, has to be time for Yacob.— Jack Smylie (@Inthetop1_nffc) October 27, 2018
Experienced Argentine Yacob is not the only Forest midfielder who will be hoping to prove themselves and nail down a place in Karanka’s XI in Colback’s absence
Like Yacob, Greek international Panagiotis Tachtsidis arrived on a free in September and he too has not been seen so far. Fan favourite Liam Bridcutt, meanwhile, has found himself out of favour and has not featured since the win against Stoke City.
