HITC Sport understands Wigan are set to name former Bury boss Brass as the club’s new Director of Football.

Wigan Athletic are poised to appoint from Bury manager Chris Brass as Director of Football at the DW Stadium, sources close to the club have told HITC Sport.
Wigan are on the verge of being taken over by Hong Kong-based company International Entertainment Corporation and a number of changes are expected on and off the pitch.
The takeover is due to be completed by November with former Everton boss Joe Royle and his son Darren set to join the Wigan board once the club’s takeover is completed.
Wigan are keen to bring in a Director of Football to help with recruitment and oversee other administrative roles at the club.
Former Burnley defender Brass is set to take up the role with the 43-year-old boasting experience of having worked on the coaching side of things as well head of football operations during his time at Bury.

Wigan boss Paul Cook has recommended Brass for the role and is happy to work alongside him in a new-look management structure at the Championship club.
Wigan are currently in 12th spot in the Championship, just four points outside the play-offs, after winning promotion from League One last season.
