Harry Redknapp has told BT Sport that he would have taken Mousa Dembele off at half-time, during Tottenham Hotspur’s match against PSV Eindhoven.

Dembele picked up a yellow card early on in the contest last night, which left him walking a tightrope for the rest of the match.

And Redknapp felt that Pochettino took an unnecessary risk by leaving the midfielder on for the second half.

“I’d sub him. I’d have taken him off at half-time, it’s an absolute certainty,” Redknapp said.

“There was no point in risking him. He is only one missed timed challenge away now [from being sent off].”

Dembele did manage to avoid being sent off, but Tottenham still failed to finish the game with 11 men on the pitch in Holland.

Hugo Lloris was sent off for a reckless challenge on Hirving Lozano, and ultimately it proved costly.

Spurs failed to hold on to their lead and could only manage a 2-2 draw in the match.

Tottenham now have just one point from their first three Champions League matches, and look almost certain to make a group stage exit.
