Beerman left Rangers to join FC Birkirkara on loan this season.

Myles Beerman left Rangers in the summer to move to Maltese side FC Birkirkara on a season-long loan in the summer in a bid to save his Ibrox career – but it is not going well.

The 19-year-old left-back was given his debut under Pedro Caixinha and even featured in an Old Firm derby under the Portuguese boss, managing just eight appearances for the Scottish side in all competitions.

But since his sacking, and the signing of Declan John last summer, Beerman was ostracised and loaned out to Queen of the South for the second half of the 2017-18 campaign.

With his Rangers career in huge doubt, Beerman returned to his home country of Malta to show Steven Gerrard that he has what it takes to remain at Ibrox, but it could not be going worse.

The Malta Under-21 international and former Manchester City ace has managed just three appearances for Birkirkara, clocking up just 61 minutes in total.

If Beerman is to earn a new deal at Rangers, he must break his way into his loan side’s starting eleven – or face being released by Rangers at the end of the 2018-19 season.

But if he continues in the same vein, he simply has no future at Ibrox under Gerrard.
