Erik Lamela played well for Tottenham Hotspur against West Ham United in the Premier League this past weekend.

The Newcastle United legend made the comments following Lamela’s performance for Tottenham against West Ham away from home at the London Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.
The Argentina international, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, scored the only goal of the London derby on the stroke of half time.
Former Newcastle striker Shearer, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, was impressed with the performance of 26-year-old Lamela, and has praised Spurs manager Pochettino for not giving up on former AS Roma star despite his injury issues and lack of consistency.

Shearer wrote about Lamela in The Sun: “This was his first Premier League start of the season and he was outstanding.
“The Argentine looked confident, went past defenders with ease and brought his team-mates into the game. Up until now, he has only shown flashes of what he can do.
“Lamela has not done it regularly enough since he joined the club for £25.7million from Roma in 2013.
“Even though he has had injury problems, other managers would probably have lost patience in a player like Lamela a long time ago.
“But Mauricio Pochettino has worked with him to try to bring the best out of him — and it looks like he is now reaping the rewards.”
Stats
Lamela has scored three goals and provided one assist in 164 minutes of Premier League football for Tottenham so far this season, according to WhoScored.
Spurs are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 21 points from nine matches, just two points behind leaders Manchester City.
