The former Rangers youngster was unable to agree a new contract with the Ibrox side, now managed by Steven Gerrard.
Some Rangers fans are reacting on Twitter to reports that one of their former players is attracting Premier League interest, just months after he was allowed to leave Ibrox on the cheap.
Rangers saw David Bates quit for Hamburg after failing to agree a new contract with the 22-year-old centre-back.
And according to the Sunday Mirror, Bates’ early displays in Germany’s second tier have had scouts from Arsenal, Everton, Leicester City, Southampton and Watford flocking to the Volksparkstadion.
The rumour has come as quite a shock to several Gers supporters – although others are now ruing the club’s decision to let him go.

Hopefully he’ll do a Craig Moore and return sooner rather than later. Gerrard alluded at the start of the season he wasn’t happy about him being allowed to leave.— Simon (@Hay_Rebawz) October 21, 2018
He’s got a very good Agent I’ll say that for him— Thom Beard (@Thom_Beard) October 21, 2018

Ross Harrison @RossHarrison90 Oct 21 More If David Bates gets a move to Arsenal I’ll eat my own ***. Ludicrous!
Rangers brought in three new centre-backs, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and Joe Worrall to replace Bates, Russell Martin, Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso.
Could the former Rangers defender cut it at Arsenal, Everton and co?
