Potential Financial Fair Play sanctions are looming large over Birmingham City. But that does not mean the Blues are ready to cash in on their star players during the January transfer window.
One of those is certainly the gifted Spaniard who slaloms around the pitch with the number 23 on his back.
Jota arrived at Birmingham in 2017 for a club-record fee of £6 million after an outstanding spell at Brentford and he is now starting to find his best form in a blue shirt under Garry Monk. The 27-year-old has produced four assists in his last four games.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Jota’s fine performances have caught the eye of high-flying Sheffield United ahead of the January transfer window.
But Monk has no plans to part with one of the first names on his team sheet.
As it stands, Chris Wilder’s Blades are second in the Championship table after a staggering start to the campaign. But Sheffield United are renowned more for their work rate and team ethic rather than flair or cutting edge.
So you can see why they would want to add a player like Jota to their ranks.
