Besic, who joined Middlesbrough on loan from Everton in the summer transfer window, featured in the Championship match against Wednesday away from home at the Hillsborough Stadium on Friday evening.
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder - who earns £30,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com - scored for Boro in the 49th minute and created the second for Britt Assombalonga.
Middlesbrough manager Pulis has praised the Bosnia and Herzegovina international and has spoken highly of the defensive midfielder.
Pulis told The Northern Echo about Besic: “He is a great lad. On his day he is as good as anything in this league.
“At times him and Stewart Downing were sublime. They did some really good things for us. I feel we played really well for 77 minutes.”
The Boro boss added: “I felt Mo played well at Ipswich in his last game, he tired a bit there. But he is a good player. I have a strong affiliation with him which is very special.”
Besic has made five starts and four substitute appearances in the Championship for Middlesbrough so far this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The win against Wednesday means that Boro are now at the top of the Championship table with 25 points from 13 matches.
Middlesbrough are among the favourites to get promoted to the Premier League.
