Michael Appleton has suggested that West Bromwich Albion will finish in the top two of the Championship this season, as quoted in The Express & Star.

Appleton, who played for West Brom from 2001 until 2003 and also worked as a coach at the Baggies, has highlighted the importance of strikers Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez.

The Express & Star quotes Appleton as saying about West Brom and manager Darren Moore: "I’ll be amazed if they don’t finish in the top two this year with the front two they’ve got with Gayle and Rodriguez.

"But ultimately you’ve still got to go and do it, you’ve got to deliver every week, and I’m sure he will.”

Rodriguez has scored seven goals and provided one assist in 12 league starts for West Brom so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.

West Brom are second in the Championship table at the moment with 24 points from 12 matches, just a point behind leaders Sheffield United.
