Glasgow Rangers defender Lewis Mayo looks set to stay at Ibrox until 2021 after agreeing a new contract with the Gers.

Lewis Mayo has taken to Twitter to express his delight after it was announced that he has signed a new contract at Rangers that looks set to keep him at Ibrox until 2021.
Mayo is one of the large number of exciting prospects looking to make the grade at Ibrox. He is still awaiting his first-team debut for the Gers, but the club have provided of an indication of how highly they rate the teenager during the international break.
The Scottish Premiership side have announced on Twitter that Mayo – who was born the day after Rod Wallace’s hat-trick helped Rangers beat Motherwell 6-2 in March 2000 – has extended his contract until 2021, and he has also taken to social media to comment on the news that he has put pen to paper on the fresh terms.
It is arguably a daunting task lying ahead of Mayo as he looks to try and force his way into the first-team picture under Steven Gerrard.
In stark contrast to last season, Rangers have a defensive unit that will normally leave opposition attacks wondering how they are getting to break through and beat Allan McGregor.

And when you consider that Nikola Katic has barely featured recently and Gareth McAuley is still awaiting the chance to make his debut, it looks as though it could be a while before Mayo is breaking into the senior side.
But the contract extension certainly suggests that they have extremely high hopes for the talented defender.
