Scotland fell to another disappointing defeat on Sunday evening as they were beaten 3-1 at home by Portugal in an international friendly.
After a shock defeat to Israel on Thursday dominated headlines and heaped the pressure on manager Alex McLeish, few Scotland fans were expecting much better against current European champions Portugal.
Portugal boss Fernando Santos did field a much-changed side, and it was two fringe players who combined for the first goal as left back Kevin Rodrigues crossed for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Helder Costa to bundle home from close range.
Ex-Swansea City flops Renato Sanches and Eder combined for the second goal, with the latter heading home a free kick, before speedy wide man Bruma went on a run and smashed the ball into the top corner of the net to make it 3-0.
Gary Mackay-Steven's inventive back heel did set up Steven Naismith for a consolation, but that's as good as it got for Scotland as they lost 3-1 in another disappointing defeat.
It was another poor performance from Scotland under McLeish, and the absence of Leigh Griffiths from his squad was exacerbated by the performance of Swansea striker Oli McBurnie at Hampden Park.
Whilst McBurnie has impressed with Swansea this season, he was slammed on Twitter by Scotland fans, with some suggesting that he shouldn't win another cap and was a waste of a jersey against Portugal.
Celtic fans were particularly critical of McBurnie, with some hoping that he signs for Rangers; after all, McBurnie is a Rangers fan, was wanted on loan by the Gers in January according to BBC Sport before The Sun claimed over the summer that Steven Gerrard launched a £4million bid for the striker - and Bhoys fans believe he is destined to play for the Gers, much to their delight based on Sunday's display.
No matter how much the rangers supporters build him up McBurnie is terrible.— Olivier Rébily (@ORebily) October 14, 2018

As for Oli McBurnie, what does he bring apart from being the only player to have his socks pulled down? Absolute waste of a jersey...— Adam Oliver (@AdamOliver07) October 14, 2018

Think I’ll turn my hand to playing as a Centre Forward. If what Oli Mcburnie has just displayed is acceptable for International level then Me and my Umbro Speciali’s have a chance at making it— James Ross (@Jamesy1988) October 14, 2018
