Ross McCormack is on loan at the Central Coast Mariners from Aston Villa.

Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has suggested to The Daily Mail that he does not have a future at the club.

McCormack is on loan at A-League club Central Coast Mariners at the moment, while Villa have just appointed Dean Smith as their manager following the departure of Steve Bruce.

The 32-year-old former Leeds United and Cardiff City striker has suggested that it is unlikely that he will play for Villa again.

McCormack told The Daily Mail: “Opportunities at Villa may have sailed now, although I haven’t spoken to the new manager yet.

“My target is to get as sharp as I can and hopefully goals will come. Everyone has been great here and I just want to enjoy myself.”

Disappointing spell at Aston Villa

Much was expected of McCormack when he joined Villa from Fulham in the summer of 2016, but the Scotland international has struggled to make an impact at Villa Park.

The former Rangers striker had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Melbourne City before joining the Central Coast Mariners.

While new Villa manager Smith may make his own decision regarding the future of McCormack, it does not appear likely that the Scotland international will play for the Villans again.

For the time being, McCormack should try to enjoy his time in Australia.
