Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Chinese owners have the funds to sign most players in world football right now. But that does not mean they have forgotten about the young talent bubbling beneath the surface at the Premier League newcomers.
Wolves agreed a partnership with Spanish third tier side FC Jumilla in August and, as a result, nine of their best and brightest are currently on loan at the Estadio Municipal de la Hoya.
According to Birmingham Mail, Wolves director Sky Sun travelled to Spain this weekend to watch Jumilla in action against Almeria. And he would have been impressed in particular by one of Wolves’ fresh-faced talents.
Donovan Wilson was the match winner, after all. The 21-year-old forward scored the only goal of the game for Jumilla, converting in clinical fashion with a clever flick over the Almeria goalkeeper.
It was the sort of instinctive finish that Wilson made his habit in Wolves’ U23s, for whom he scored six times in 11 Premier League 2 games last season.
Portuguese starlet Boubacar Hanne and Swiss midfielder Ming-Yang Yang both started in Murcia this weekend, alongside defenders Ryan Leak (below) and Aaron Simpson.
