Alessandro Diamanti is still held in very high regard despite only playing for West Ham United for one season and his latest Instagram post is likely to delight Hammers fans.

The 35-year-old played 30 times for West Ham during the 2008-09 season, after an impressive two-year stay at Livorno. The set-piece specialist managed eight goals, and created another six in that time.

His passionate, fiery displays won a place among the hearts of West Ham fans, and was the runner-up to Scott Parker for the Hammer of the Year award for thaw season. But he immediately left, returning to Italy with Brescia.

But the Hammers connection remains with Diamanti, who posted a picture of himself on Instagram with a mug that says "I love West Ham United", which was re-posted by the Hammers' official Twitter account.

Diamanti has become somewhat of a journeyman. A 17-time Italy international, the attacker has turned out for 14 different clubs including Fiorentina, Watford, Bologna and Palermo.

Now 35, the playmaker has returned to Livorno where he has scored one goal in six Serie B appearances. Livorno are currently struggling in Italy's second tier with only two points from six matches, sitting in 19th place.
