Eintracht Frankfurt managed to keep hold of forward Ante Rebic over the summer, but they should be bracing themselves for January interest.
Rebic, 25, hit six goals and two assists in the Bundesliga last season, but really became a star at the World Cup, reaching the final with Croatia.
The former Fiorentina man may not be the most technically gifted winger of all time, but he is robust, energetic and very fast; a set of attributes that made him a wanted man over the summer.
Rebic has hit three goals and one assist in just four games this season, taking his international form into the club scene, and The Mirror report that Jose Mourinho wants to lure him to Manchester United in January.
It's claimed that Mourinho actually wanted Rebic over the summer, but the United board wouldn't sanction a deal – and as Mourinho battles for the green light for a January bid, Spurs should be readying themselves.
Spurs didn't spend anything over the summer having failed to sign anyone, and they can now splash the cash in January to bolster Mauricio Pochettino's squad, with another attacker potentially wanted.
In truth, the ideal attacker for Spurs is somebody can play out wide but also offer cover at centre forward behind Harry Kane, and Rebic is perfect for that, whilst also fitting well into Pochettino's pressing style.
With Mourinho potentially not being allowed to sign Rebic, this is the perfect chance for Spurs and Pochettino to get one over on Mourinho with a January move for the Croatian, finally bringing him to North London months after he was first linked.
