Smith has left Brentford for Championship rivals Villa, with Chelsea legend John Terry - who spent the 2017-18 campaign at Villa Park - becoming his assistant manager.
On a personal note, i would like to thank Dean for all his great work during his time with @BrentfordFC. Not only an excellent Head Coach but a thoroughly decent man. I wish him all the best in the future. Still all to play for this season.Time for a new chapter in our history.— mark devlin (@markdevlin7) October 10, 2018
Smith was in charge of Brentford from November 2015 until now, and he did a remarkable job at Griffin Park.
Under the 47-year-old, the Bees played some wonderful football, and Villa fans will hope to see something similar at Villa Park.
The Villans have not been great so far this campaign, but the Villa Park faithful should be optimistic for the rest of the season.
Villa are very much in the running for the Championship playoffs, and a few good results after the international break will set them up finely.
As for Brentford, the Bees are also aiming to end the season in the top six of the Championship table this season.
