Galatasaray were left with some rather big boots to fill when Bafetimbi Gomis left for Al-Hilal in the summer, fresh from firing the Istanbul club to the Super Lig title with 29 goals in 32 games.
As a result, it has been well documented that Gala are determined to bring in a new striker in January, having failed to replace the former Swansea City centre forward before the end of August.
Turkish Football reports that Divock Origi could be the man. It is understood that Galatasaray are preparing a bid to sign the Belgian striker from Liverpool, where he has found himself well down the pecking order.
A £10 million signing from Lille after the 2014 World Cup, Origi enjoyed an impressive debut season at Anfield, scoring ten times in 33 games. But the 23-year-old has found first-team opportunities difficult since then and has been demoted to the reserves this season after an unimpressive loan spell in Germany with Wolfsburg.
The Mirror reported that Borussia Dortmund were keen to offer Origi an escape route in August, but Liverpool’s £27 million price-tag understandably priced him out of a move to the Bundesliga.
Now, a loan move to Turkey could suit all parties perfectly.
