Kevin Kyle has told Open Goal's 'Keeping The Ball On The Ground' that Celtic's defence is a "bit iffy", and some Hoops fans have reacted by slamming the former Rangers star.

Celtic currently sit in third in the Scottish Premiership, behind Hibernian and Hearts after eight league games, with many pundits criticising the likes of Jozo Simunovic and Jack Hendry.

There have been mistakes at the back - especially in Europe - but the stats show that the Hoops have conceded only 13 goals in all competitions this season, only four of which have come in the league.

Former Rangers and Hearts striker Kyle claimed that Celtic are somewhat weak at the back, despite Brendan Rodgers' side smashing St. Johnstone 6-0 at Perth on Sunday afternoon.

"St. Johnstone were very poor on the weekend," Kyle said. "They never got at Celtic but when teams do get at Celtic, they struggle because they're a wee bit iffy defensively."

Jack Hendry of Celtic controls the ball during the UEFA Europa League Group B match between FC Salzburg and Celtic at Red Bull Arena Wals-Siezenheim on October 4, 2018 in Salzburg, Austria.

Dedryck Boyata's return to the fold has certainly helped Rodgers and Celtic in their bid to tighten things up, but the form of Hendry and Simunovic is certainly a concern, with Kristoffer Ajer sidelined and Marvin Compper ostracised.

But with only four goals conceded in the league, Celtic fans completely disagreed with Kyle's comments and took to Twitter to blast the former Gers striker. One fan Tweeted: "This myth is wild."
