The Rangers midfielder was allowed to leave Ibrox on loan by Steven Gerrard.
Greg Docherty's productive spell away from Ibrox continued on Tuesday, with the Rangers loanee shining in Shrewsbury Town's 6-0 EFL Trophy win against Tranmere Rovers.
As well as scoring the Shrews' second goal, the lifelong Rangers fan created one each for Lenell John-Lewis, Omar Beckles and Fejiri Okenabirhie, drawing the following praise from Town supporters...
Thank you Greg you’re a great player & human being. You’ve already made your name here, parting with you will be extremely difficult but in the meantime we’ll enjoy the season— Alison Harvey (@Ali_Harvey668) October 10, 2018
Well played tonight Greg, you bossed the first half and scored the best goal of the game Was that a shot that led to Omar’s goal?— Russ Teece (@russhrew) October 9, 2018
Well played again Greg, really giving the manager a headache! Keep up the great work.— Huw Matthews (@MatthewsHuw) October 9, 2018

Well done great result. Great video of you helping include the mascot with the warm up too. Lovely to see you looking after the youngsters who look up to you.— kate harris (@Bombergirl30) October 10, 2018
Docherty only moved to Ibrox in January from Hamilton, but was allowed to leave on a season-long loan after Steven Gerrard's arrival as manager in May.
Aged just 22, however, and with three years left on his Rangers contract after this one, Docherty's career with the Glasgow giants isn't over yet.
And that is certainly the case for these Gers fans...
Well done Greg pal. Can't wait for u to return n do it for Rangers.— Scott Happer (@HapperScott) October 10, 2018
He strikes me as someone who has potential to be the complete midfielder. He can score, set up team mates, and runs all day. I’ve got no doubt SG will see him as crucial in next few seasons.— Brownie (@OzRNGR) October 10, 2018
Soon you'll be back home were you belong— Ryan Hardie (@RyanHardie16) October 10, 2018
I seriously can’t wait for @Gregdocherty96 to return to Rangers, what an excellent young player with an amazing attitude, future Rangers Captain— Robert Jackson (@Robertj1872) October 9, 2018
I still reckon Greg Docherty is gonna be a cracking player for us in the future #HighHopes— Gary (@GaryRFC_) October 9, 2018
Rangers currently employ as many as eight first team players capable of playing in Docherty's position, although the loan spells of two of those - Ovie Ejaria and Lassana Coulibaly - expire upon the Glaswegian's return.
