Preston North End finally picked up their second league win of the season on Saturday afternoon, hammering Wigan Athletic 4-0 at Deepdale.

The Lilywhites beat QPR on the opening day of the season but had struggled since, with Alex Neil's men leaking goals at an alarming rate.

However, it all came together against Wigan, and Preston led 1-0 at half time thanks to Tom Barkhuizen's opener from a smart Alan Browne pass.

Daniel Johnson teed up Callum Robinson to make it 2-0 after the break, before Darron Gibson was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Ben Pearson.

Lukas Nmecha was fouled for a penalty, with Paul Gallagher stepping up to score, and Dan Burn's own goal from a Sean Maguire cross rounded off the scoring.

It was a marked improvement from all in white, but striker Nmecha received huge praise for his performance, even though he didn't get himself on the scoresheet.

The teenager was seen as a big signing having arrived on loan from Manchester City, but took a while to to get going before starring against Aston Villa in midweek.

Nmecha took that form into the weekend, as he was a constant menace physically, technically and with his movement in behind, and should really have had a penalty in the first half too.

Preston fans have been taking to Twitter to hail Nmecha's performance, praising him as 'outstanding' and 'magnificent' against Wigan, with supporters believing that he will be a real asset for City in the future - and backed him to find the net soon.
