Preston North End hammered Wigan Athletic 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Preston North End finally picked up their second league win of the season on Saturday afternoon, hammering Wigan Athletic 4-0 at Deepdale.
The Lilywhites beat QPR on the opening day of the season but had struggled since, with Alex Neil's men leaking goals at an alarming rate.
However, it all came together against Wigan, and Preston led 1-0 at half time thanks to Tom Barkhuizen's opener from a smart Alan Browne pass.
Daniel Johnson teed up Callum Robinson to make it 2-0 after the break, before Darron Gibson was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Ben Pearson.
Lukas Nmecha was fouled for a penalty, with Paul Gallagher stepping up to score, and Dan Burn's own goal from a Sean Maguire cross rounded off the scoring.
It was a marked improvement from all in white, but striker Nmecha received huge praise for his performance, even though he didn't get himself on the scoresheet.
The teenager was seen as a big signing having arrived on loan from Manchester City, but took a while to to get going before starring against Aston Villa in midweek.
Nmecha took that form into the weekend, as he was a constant menace physically, technically and with his movement in behind, and should really have had a penalty in the first half too.
Preston fans have been taking to Twitter to hail Nmecha's performance, praising him as 'outstanding' and 'magnificent' against Wigan, with supporters believing that he will be a real asset for City in the future - and backed him to find the net soon.
Robinson and Nmecha partnership looks the real deal #pnefc— Sam Thomas (@SamThomas71) October 6, 2018
Excellent today. Four goals, a clean sheet and off the bottom of the table. Nmecha was outstanding #pnefc— Tom Rawcliffe (@rawcliffe99) October 6, 2018
Nmecha was outstanding today, he isn't a natural goal scorer and it's probably taken a while for him to realise he can't physically dominate defender's in senior football like he can in youth football but he's gradually getting better game by game. #PNEFC— Steven Nicholson (@ste_nic) October 6, 2018
magnificent today Nmecha will go right to the very top. #pnefc— Graeme Scott (@GraemeS89119535) October 6, 2018
Special mention to Lukas Nmecha.— Jack Tucker (@PrestonJackyyy) October 6, 2018
He took some stick from the defenders today and he responded really well against them. This will be part of his process in which I think as time moves on, goals will surely come from the lad. Deserved a goal today. Well done Lukas #pnefc pic.twitter.com/tgBXAuR0yi
Nmecha was class again, starting to see why City rate him so highly. Just a shame he didn’t add a goal and that the international break is next week #pnefc— Liam (@_LiamBromley) October 6, 2018
Nmecha absolutely bullied their back 4 today. Two very impressive performances in a row from him. #pnefc— Matty (@mattyG2505) October 6, 2018
Nmecha been outstanding today, work rate immense, deserves a goal #pnefc— Sean Pearson (@SeanPearson94) October 6, 2018
