Celtic fans are reacting on Twitter to reports linking Brendan Rodgers with the Aston Villa manager's job.
According to the Sun, the Celtic manager is leading the race to succeed Steve Bruce at Villa, alongside Dean Smith.
Rodgers has won six trophies - including two Scottish Premiership titles - in just over two years at Celtic Park.
But after a slow start to the new season - exacerbated by the sale of Moussa Dembele to Lyon - it is perhaps fair to say that Aston Villa have a better chance than ever before of enticing the Ulsterman.
The following Celtic fans are not so sure, however...
Mmartin q @mmartin_q: Aston Villa fans are mental thinking they would get the great brendan rodgers from us. Wish they would all f*** off
Rodgers won’t leave Celtic for a club like Aston Villa,no chance— David Byrne (@Dotsy_19) October 3, 2018
Kevin Durning @kdurning92: Brendan Rodgers to Aston Villa, gee me a f****** break
He’s been at that level no need to go back to it— John (@johnboy_62) October 3, 2018
Charlie Nicholas knows as much about Scottish football as stev Bruce knows about attacking football. Rodgers is a Celtic fan with the chance of being the manager for 10 in a row. Not a hope he is going to Villa until after that— kev (@mackmack1967) October 4, 2018
Celtic Nation @CelticNation67: Was just posting on this lunacy the other day but since.. Four times the same person has told me that Brendan Rodgers will go to Villa...."Mark my words" he keeps saying. Four times I've told him to wind his f****** neck in. Aston f****** Villa?
BR’s taken the huff and not let it go since. But aye, we’re stuck with BR at least until May.— seannybhoy (@seanmcneal3) October 5, 2018
Although some would be open, it seems, to the prospect of a change in the Bhoys dugout...
Rodgers to Villa? Would that be good or bad for us? Had it his own way for two seasons and now can't find that plan B.— TrebleX2 (@SINARMDEM) October 5, 2018
At least Rodgers won’t need to worry about Europe when he’s at Villa— soulrunner (@SoulSoulrunner) October 4, 2018
Brendan is an honourable man who has taken #CelticFC as far as he can with the resources available. As a Team we don't have the standard of player to do anything purposeful at any European level. Not looking forward to Leipzig.— Mo (@50sEKBOY) October 4, 2018
Bruce was sacked by Aston Villa on Wednesday, after two years in charge.
The experienced boss had won just one of his final 10 matches at Villa Park.
Could Aston Villa entice Rodgers from Celtic?
