Marco Silva obviously felt that Nikola Vlasic was not ready to make an impact at Everton this season.
Speaking to Novilist in September, the Croatian attacker said he left Goodison Park and joined CSKA Moscow on loan after the new Toffees head coach told him he would not be part of his plans for the 2018/19 campaign.
It is fair to say Vlasic has done a good job of making a point to Silva since moving to Russia.
In his last five games, the 20-year-old has scored three goals and produced two assists. He made headlines across Europe on Tuesday, too, scoring the winner as CSKA stunned Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.
Speaking to Tass, CSKA manager Viktor Goncharenko praised his highly-rated loanee.
“He has been amazing. Not just today but in the other games as well,” Goncharenko said. “After arriving, he understood he needed to become a leader. He took that upon himself.
“He’s ambitious. He wants to play, not sit on the bench. I think it suits him at CSKA.”
Everton paid £10 million to sign Vlasic from Hajduk Split in the summer of 2017 but he made just 12 appearances in the Premier League, seven of those starts.
With the attacker only on loan at CSKA, do not rule out Vlasic returning to Merseyside in 2019 and becoming a key player.
