Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers offered high words of praise for Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, when speaking exclusively to Celtic TV, highlighting how much of an impact the former Liverpool and England skipper has made at Ibrox.

The Hoops have received heavy criticism for their performances this season, after having failed to sufficiently strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window, whilst the Gers have been praised to the hilt, after bringing in 12 new faces.

Gerrard has guided Rangers to 11 games without a defeat, whilst Celtic have already lost two matches this season.

Rodgers spoke exclusively to Celtic TV ahead of the first Old Firm game of the season on Sunday, and talked up the job being done by Gerrard at Ibrox:

Celtic Manager, Brendan Rodgers looks on during the UEFA Champions League Qualifier between Celtic and AEK Athens at Celtic Park Stadium on August 8, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“There is no doubt Steven has made a difference to them and made a change to them, a positive change. No matter the form, they are always tough games so our notion after Thursday will be to focus on that and be ready for it.”

Both Celtic and Rangers will be desperate for all three points on Sunday, as they look to close the gap on league leaders Hearts, but the most important thing for the Glasgow pair will be to not lose the game, as the psychological battle between Gerrard and Rodgers heats up.
