Martin Samuelsen was really struggling to make an impact in the Eredivisie with VVV Venlo, who he joined on loan from West Ham United.

The fact that Martin Samuelsen was starting for VVV Venlo in their KNVB Cup clash with regional league outfit Westlandia is a clear indication that things have not gone to plan for the Norwegian youngster in Holland.
West Ham United loaned Samuelsen to VVV in the summer, in the hope that he would finally start to realise his potential after disappointing spells at Peterborough United, Blackburn Rovers and Burton Albion.
But Samuelsen has started slowly and played just two minutes of Eredivisie football since being hooked at half-time against Heerenveen at the start of September.
Thankfully, however, the 21-year-old took his chance in style alongside a number of second string players midweek, albeit against weaker opposition.

Samuelsen was clearly the star of the show away at Westlandia and scored his first two goals for VVV, including a brilliant 20-yard strike to give his side the lead.
It was not just the goals, but the intelligence of his passing and his creative influence in attack, that caught the eye. And Samuelsen will be hoping that this is the beginning of an impressive run of form in a league that should, in theory, get the best out of his ability to sparkle in attack.
