Liverpool sold goalkeeper Danny Ward to Premier League rivals Leicester City and he shone as the Foxes beat Wolves in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

Tuesday was a great night for players with a Liverpool connection.
Jay Spearing scored as Blackpool defeated Championship opponents QPR in the EFL Cup third round, while Harry Wilson made headlines with a Ronaldo-esque free-kick in Derby County’s stunning victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
And Danny Ward was the star of the show in his first appearance for Leicester City.
Sold by Liverpool for £12.5 million this summer, Ward reminded everyone why is so highly-rated as he produced a remarkable display in a penalty shoot-out victory against Wolves at Molineux.

Ward, whose spot-kick heroics helped Huddersfield Town beat Reading in the 2017 Championship play-off final, turned on the style again in the Black Country, saving three of Wolves’ four penalties after a goalless 90 minutes.
But would Liverpool have been better off keeping a promising 25-year-old goalkeeper rather than a man who is clearly unhappy with his back-up role at Anfield?
Simon Mignolet is set to start as Liverpool host Chelsea in the League Cup on Wednesday night. And, if the Belgian international fails to convince, Reds fans would be justified in wondering why Ward was allowed to leave.
